Walking Away

I didn't even mean to take this picture- it was a mistaken click. But there was something about this picture that made me hesitate to delete it. I don't know if it was the purposeful stride or the pant legs that don't have to be rolled up anymore, or maybe it was the fact that as he was leaving he turned to me and said "I'll be right back" as he headed to the house to go get something. For just a moment I caught a glimpse of the little boy, the teenager, the man that he is going to become.

The Jeep

All the pieces came together for Hogan last week, and finally, he can steer the jeep on his own. As you can see, he can also take the jeep on some pretty exciting trips too. The only problem is that Hogan can get somewhere, but inevitably, and to our irritation, always wants us to push him back to the house. It involves quite a bit of muscle to get that jeep and Hogan back to the apartment after he's driven out and about. So, almost every jeep escapade ends with Troy and I telling ourselves we'll never take that jeep out again until he learns to drive himself back (but obviously that doesn't really happen). I may be able to beat certain people in arm wrestling now, though! :) You know who you are.

The Adventures of Mr. Worm Part 2

Poor Mr. Worm fell (or was he pushed....) into the huge hole (that maintenance has yet to fill) by the sewer grate. Hogan saved him from his perilous predicament. Once Mr. Worm was safely out of the hole, Hogan wiped his brow and said, "That was hard work, really, really hard work!"

Adventures of Mr. Worm

Here start the adventures of Mr. Worm today. Everything started out pretty mild- until Mr. Worm met his fate at the sewer grate!

Big Boy Bed

Last night was Hogan's first night in his big boy bed. We'd spent all day cleaning, rearranging, gathering all the pieces and by 5:00 his new room, with no trace of baby left, was complete. Troy and I felt creaky and old and a little sad to say good-bye to the crib and changing table. Hogan was wild with excitement; it was like having brand new toys since everything was in a new place. When nighttime finally came, Hogan spent about 45 minutes readjusting his lamp and calling out for mom and dad needing reassurance that despite the new furniture everything all worked the same. After that he had a solid night's sleep- proof that he was really okay with growing up. But are Troy and I?????

Blueberries

Hogan has been craving blueberries for the past couple of weeks, and I finally remembered to pick some up at the store today. Blueberries aren't exactly in season right now so we bought the frozen ones which were plenty juicy and sweet. Troy and I finally had to cut Hogan off- I think he might have eaten the whole bag if we'd let him. On another totally unrelated note, Way to go Cowboys!!!!!
